Windstar Cruises was created in the mid-1980's with a vision to offer an alternative to the typical cruise or resort vacation. It was acquired by Holland America Line in 1987. Two years later, both cruise lines were acquired by the Carnival Corporation. The company continues to operate as a separate entity, offering its unique brand of cruises.
